Google anticipates AI will give people back 80% of their time

A Coruña (Spain), Jun 28 (EFE).- The senior director of Engineering and AI Research Strategy at Google, Pilar Manchón, said Friday at the Ecosystems 2030 technology summit that artificial intelligence (AI) will give people back 80% of their time thanks to its ability to streamline work.

Manchón said her company is “heading in the right direction” after a “very busy” decade with AI that “is revolutionizing everything.”

Globally, studies show that the strongest support for AI is in emerging countries, where 77% of people support it thanks to the “success in democratizing technology” versus a lack of trust in other traditional elements such as governments or the media.

“We must make sure that no one is left behind,” she said, reiterating the importance of “people having a voice and a vote in this society we are building,” since we people “are the problem we want to solve.”

Thanks to artificial intelligence, according to data, 80% of people’s time will be given back to them, so enjoyment will increase while work will decrease.

“We are in a revolution, I see it as a new renaissance,” she said regarding the impact of AI on a myriad of fields.

It is a “tool” with which the world is changing, which is “empowering” by giving people more capabilities.

“We are facing a new world with old world rules. We need new rules, we need to understand how this new world works,” she concluded.

The Ecosystems 2030 conference, being held Friday in A Coruña, Spain, is focusing on the “opportunities and challenges” of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

A series of challenges are to be analyzed throughout the day by a total of 46 senior executives from companies such as Coca-Cola, Ikea, and Mastercard.
