“Kazakhstan Night” in Barcelona showcases “The World Painting” social art project

Barcelona, Spain, Jul 22 (EFE).- The northern Spanish city of Barcelona on Saturday played host to “Kazakhstan Night,” an event that brought together a diverse group of attendees including consular officers, politicians, cultural representatives, business and university leaders, Kazakhstani diaspora members, and students.

The evening was marked by the presentation of the international social art project “The World Painting” at the European Museum of Modern Art. Guests were treated to a performance by the Kazakh instrumental trio “Forte” and a chance to meet the artistic project’s creators, Kazakh producers Daut Shaikhislamov and Dana Ormanbayeva.

The producers narrated the creation story of “The World Painting” and showcased a film illustrating its inception.

Rinat Dyussembayev, the Head of the Consulate of Kazakhstan, asserted that the exhibition and concert in Barcelona were “among the most vibrant events of bilateral cultural cooperation in the city this year. The unique nature of cultural interaction between Kazakhstan and Spain is becoming increasingly close and enriched.”

Among those who contributed to “The World Painting” was Yosef David Sanchez-Molina Rubín, General Consul of Israel and Secretary-General of the Barcelona Consular Corps, reflecting the project’s wide-ranging international participation.

The international social art project comprises a mosaic of fragments created by representatives from more than 197 countries, each bringing their own unique touch to the canvas. This involved a symbol, stroke, or image that represented themselves or their home country.

Citizens and eminent personalities, including Hollywood actors, directors, revered musicians, international sports stars, public figures, and country presidents, participated in the project. The project achieved a Guinness World Record for having the most participants in creating a painting.

“The World Painting” spans the globe’s dimensions scaled down to a 1.27-meter by 4-meter canvas. A replica of the work traveled to the International Space Station.
