Kazakhstan, Oman strengthen cooperation with signing of energy, IT agreements

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, agreed on Tuesday to elevate bilateral relations by signing agreements in energy, transport and logistics, information technology, and healthcare, among other fields.

Representatives of both countries signed the agreements during the Sultan’s first visit to Central Asia’s largest nation, according to the Kazakh presidency.

Tokayev welcomed the Sultan’s visit to Astana, noting that the Arab nation is a partner in the Middle East that has “stood the test of time,” as both countries prepare to celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.

During the visit, both nations will also approve a joint declaration outlining the priorities of their bilateral partnership, the Kazakh leader said.

He also highlighted progress on several joint projects with Oman, including the Dunga oil field, Solidcore Resources projects in two Kazakh regions, a joint investment fund, and the development of hotel and tourism infrastructure in Kazakhstan.

For his part, Sultan Haitham noted that his country is interested in deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan in energy, mining, and agriculture, as well as transport, financial services, high technology, and artificial intelligence.

“The exchange of high-level visits and the work of the Intergovernmental Commission have established a solid foundation to advance toward a more ambitious level of cooperation,” he said. EFE
