Astana, Apr 14 (EFE).- Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met Monday with Chevron Chairman and CEO Michael Wirth to discuss implementing major investment projects in the Central Asian republic.
“Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the key role of Chevron in the sustainable development of the country’s energy sector and congratulated Michael Wirth on the successful completion of the project to expand the Tengiz field,” the president’s office press service said in a statement.
It added that “particular attention was paid to the further implementation of major investment projects, including the production of gas and petrochemical products.”
The Kazakh president stressed the importance of increasing the participation of domestic companies in the oil and gas industry, as well as the country’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Chevron.
For his part, Wirth said that Kazakhstan is a strategic partner and added that the Tengizchevroil joint venture had invested significantly in the country’s economy from 1993 to 2024. EFE
