Astana, Apr 24 (EFE).<\/strong> \u2013 Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev<\/strong> asserted Thursday that the ethnic diversity in Kazakhstan<\/strong>\u2014a nation of over 130 ethnic groups\u2014is not a weakness but a national asset and strategic strength<\/strong> amid global instability.<\/p>\n

Ethnic Diversity in Kazakhstan: A National Strength<\/h3>\n

\u201cPerhaps for some countries, ethnic diversity is a risk factor, a source of distrust and intolerance, but for us, it is a heritage of the entire nation and a strategic advantage<\/strong>,\u201d Tokayev declared during the 34th session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan<\/a><\/strong>, a national body focused on unity.<\/p>\n

The president, who has recently stood firm against Russian pressure<\/strong> over Ukraine, reaffirmed that Kazakhstan rejects all forms of ethnic discrimination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Equality and Language Freedom at the Core<\/h3>\n
\n

\u201cIn Kazakhstan, there has never been discrimination based on ethnicity, language, or religion. This is a fundamental principle of state policy<\/strong> that we will continue to uphold,\u201d Tokayev stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He emphasized Kazakhstan\u2019s commitment to multiculturalism and inclusion<\/strong>, noting the principle: \u201cWe are different, but we are equal.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also defended the rights of citizens to choose their language freely\u2014an issue particularly relevant in a country with a large Russian-speaking population<\/strong>\u2014and warned that attempts to stir ethnic hatred would face the full force of the law<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Good Neighborliness and Regional Balance<\/h3>\n

Tokayev reminded listeners of Kazakhstan\u2019s long-standing respect for its neighbors<\/strong>, particularly Russia and China<\/strong>, with whom the country maintains diplomatic balance<\/strong>, as well as with fellow Central Asian states.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe traditions of good neighborliness of the Kazakh people remain alive today<\/strong>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Ethnic Diversity in Kazakhstan Amid Global Tensions<\/h3>\n

The Kazakh leader expressed concern over rising extremism, populism, and geopolitical mistrust<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegrettably, amid an acute global crisis of trust, we are witnessing a resurgence of extremist ideologies<\/strong>, the erosion of international law<\/strong>, and the weakening of international institutions<\/strong>,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n

Dialogue and Diplomacy Over Division<\/h3>\n

In response to the global turmoil, Tokayev reaffirmed that Kazakhstan is committed to the UN Charter<\/strong> and supports reform of international institutions<\/strong> to better serve a changing world.<\/p>\n

For Tokayev, the best remedy to global conflict is direct dialogue<\/strong> and genuine cultural exchange<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
