Astana, Jun 11 (EFE).-<\/strong> The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico,<\/strong> presented his country\u2019s oil and uranium needs<\/strong> to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev<\/strong> during talks held Wednesday in Astana<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Slovakia seeks energy cooperation with Kazakhstan<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cWe have five reactors and will soon connect a sixth one (…) If our Kazakh colleagues show interest in working together, we are ready,\u201d Fico said during the meeting.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Fico, a vocal critic of the European Union\u2019s military support for Ukraine<\/strong>, which he claims contributes to prolonging the war<\/strong>, recalled that before Russia launched its military campaign, Slovakia imported nearly three million tons of Kazakh oil annually<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also discussed with the president the use of the Druzhba pipeline through Russia and Belarus to Slovakia. Going forward, we can address crude imports with the help of experts,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Potential defense cooperation and joint production<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The prime minister said he had also spoken with Tokayev about defense cooperation. <\/strong>He noted that Slovakia could supply Kazakhstan with military equipment or even jointly produce weapons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Still, he stressed that Slovakia \u201cis a country that loves peace\u201d<\/strong> and supports \u201cpeaceful projects.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also expressed respect for \u201cthe ambitious plans\u201d of the largest Central Asian republic<\/strong>. He emphasized that he often tells his EU colleagues they should look not only within the bloc but \u201calso at the experience of other countries.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes I feel that the EU is in love with itself. We believe we are the world\u2019s pioneers and want to lecture everyone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Tokayev opens door to energy, trade, and transport cooperation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For his part, Tokayev<\/strong> said Kazakhstan is ready to cooperate with the Central European country not only in the energy sector<\/strong> but also in agriculture, digitalization, and machinery manufacturing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cKazakhstan is ready to export oil, gas, and uranium, food products, and other goods to Slovakia,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Kazakh leader also invited Fico to participate in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor<\/strong> project, which spans from China to Europe via Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus, and Turkey<\/strong>, aiming to enhance trade exchanges.<\/p>\n

Shared views on peace, diplomacy, and global instability<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tokayev and Fico shared concerns about \u201cgeopolitical instability\u201d<\/strong> and \u201ctrade wars.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBoth sides agree that all conflicts must be resolved exclusively through peaceful means,\u201d said the Kazakh president. Astana and Bratislava place great importance on \u2018multilateral diplomacy.\u2019\u201d <\/strong>EFE<\/p>\n
