{"id":183582,"date":"2025-09-18T23:05:45","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T21:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/efecomunica.efe.com\/?p=183582"},"modified":"2025-09-21T19:02:01","modified_gmt":"2025-09-21T17:02:01","slug":"unaoc-leader-says-we-must-put-end-to-wars-and-conflicts-in-21st-century","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efecomunica.efe.com\/en\/unaoc-leader-says-we-must-put-end-to-wars-and-conflicts-in-21st-century\/","title":{"rendered":"UNAOC leader says we must put end to wars and conflicts in 21st century"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Astana, Sep 18 (EFE).- The High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), <strong>Miguel \u00c1ngel Moratinos<\/strong>, said Thursday in Kazakhstan that in the 21st century, <strong>wars and conflicts must come to an end<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth the <strong>Government of Kazakhstan<\/strong> and the <strong>Alliance of Civilizations<\/strong>, which I chair, are going to work hand in hand to try to change this process of <strong>militarization and acceptance of wars and conflicts<\/strong>,\u201d the Spanish diplomat told EFE in Astana, where he attended the <strong>Eighth Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions<\/strong> the day before.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, Moratinos was awarded a <strong>prize for the understanding and respect of civilizations and cultures<\/strong>, a distinction presented to him by <strong>Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been a great congress where there has been <strong>a very clear message in favor of peace,<\/strong>\u201d said Moratinos, who said he was \u201cvery satisfied\u201d to be back in Astana.<\/p>\n<p>The diplomat, who combines his role as head of the Alliance of Civilizations with that of <strong>United Nations Special Envoy for Combating Islamophobia<\/strong>, emphasized the commitment of the Alliance and the Kazakh government to peace.<\/p>\n<p>He also highlighted the Kazakh president&#8217;s new initiative for a <strong>Global Movement for Peace<\/strong>, which coincides with the objectives of the Alliance of Civilizations.
