Miami, Oct 22 (EFE).\u2014<\/strong> Spain\u2019s Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM)<\/strong> and the U.S.-based educational platform NutriAcademy<\/a><\/strong> have signed an international cooperation agreement<\/strong> to introduce the concept of modern nutrition<\/strong> into academia.<\/p>\n

Guillermo Rodr\u00edguez Navarrete<\/strong>, founder of NutriAcademy<\/strong>, told EFE that UCAM<\/strong> is \u201cprobably one of the best universities in Spain,<\/strong>\u201d focused on health sciences<\/strong>, while his company promotes the \u201cmodernization<\/strong>\u201d of this field.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are always pursuing innovation; they have an outstanding technology center and all those facilities. For NutriAcademy, it\u2019s a blessing to have this partnership because they truly share the philosophy we want people to learn,<\/strong>\u201d he said, referring to the Murcia-based university.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Modern nutrition: a holistic approach<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Rodr\u00edguez Navarrete explained that modern nutrition<\/strong> examines human nutrition from a holistic perspective.<\/strong>\u00a0It takes into account environmental factors<\/strong> in addition to the quality and quantity of food consumed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThere are other things that also nourish the body and are part of our certification in modern nutrition that are not food; light is something that nourishes or malnourishes the body, and electromagnetic frequencies can also nourish us or harm us when they are the wrong ones,<\/strong>\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to Rodr\u00edguez Navarrete, modern nutrition<\/strong> may offer solutions to illnesses<\/strong> affecting large segments of the population.<\/p>\n

A study by the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University<\/strong> found that fewer than 7% of U.S. adults enjoy good cardiometabolic health.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIf we want to bring people from the 93% who are unhealthy to the 7% who are healthy, we must modernize nutrition, create more health experts, retrain and update the ones we have, and train new ones,<\/strong>\u201d he said, referring to NutriAcademy\u2019s training program.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Course with European accreditation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

According to a joint statement<\/strong>, the agreement \u201cmarks a milestone<\/strong>\u201d with the launch of the Advanced University Course in Modern Nutrition. <\/strong>It will grant 14 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits<\/strong> and an official European accreditation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

UCAM\u2019s dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Nutrition, Dr. Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Cayuela<\/strong>, said NutriAcademy<\/strong> is \u201ca reference in the scientific updating of nutritional knowledge and in the practical approach to functional health,<\/strong>\u201d adding that the partnership will strengthen the university\u2019s academic offerings. <\/strong>EFE<\/p>\n
