Astana, Nov 7 (EFE).- <\/strong>The United States<\/strong> is turning to Kazakhstan<\/strong>, Uzbekistan<\/strong> and other Central Asian nations as alternative suppliers<\/strong> of rare earth minerals<\/strong>, offering increased investment in exchange for access to strategic raw materials.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, previous US presidents have completely neglected this region,<\/strong>\u201d President Donald Trump<\/strong> said Thursday during a meeting in Washington with the leaders of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.<\/p>\n

The U.S. president described Central Asia<\/strong> as \u201can incredible and extremely rich region.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

Kazakhstan: world\u2019s largest untapped tungsten reserve<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Although China<\/strong> on Friday suspended for one year<\/strong> the export controls it imposed on Oct. 9<\/strong> on strategic materials such as rare earths, lithium battery components and synthetic diamonds<\/strong>, Washington moved ahead to secure alternative supply chains.<\/p>\n

Trump and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev<\/strong> agreed to create a joint venture<\/strong> between Cove Capital (70%)<\/strong> and Tau-Ken Samruk (30%)<\/strong> to develop what is considered the world\u2019s largest untapped tungsten deposit<\/strong>, estimated at 410,000 tons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Tokayev, who refers to rare earth metals<\/strong> as \u201cthe second oil,\u201d<\/strong> stressed that attracting new investment<\/strong> is essential for Kazakhstan. The country holds major reserves of:<\/p>\n

    Among the largest uranium and chromium<\/strong> deposits globally<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The United States and Kazakhstan also signed more than $17 billion<\/strong> in commercial agreements, including purchases of U.S. freight trains<\/strong>, 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft<\/strong>, John Deere agricultural machinery<\/strong>, and a major rare earth extraction project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Uzbekistan investment to reach $100 billion<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Trump also announced, through Truth Social<\/strong>, an agreement with Uzbekistan<\/strong> for rare earth mining<\/strong>, pledging to invest around $35 billion over the next three years<\/strong> and more than $100 billion over the next decade<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    According to the office of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev<\/strong>, the country\u2014home to deposits of more than 30 strategic metals<\/strong>, including tungsten, molybdenum and lithium<\/strong>\u2014plans to implement over 70 raw-material extraction projects<\/strong> valued at $1.6 billion by 2028<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
