Astana, Nov 11 (EFE).-<\/strong>\u00a0Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev<\/strong> announced Tuesday that he will sign a declaration of alliance and strategic partnership<\/strong> with Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/strong> during his official visit to Moscow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe key point of my visit to Moscow will be the signing of a declaration on elevating relations between Kazakhstan and Russia to the level of a comprehensive alliance and strategic partnership,\u201d Tokayev wrote in an article published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Tokayev, who arrives in Moscow on Tuesday, made the announcement five days after attending the U.S.\u2013Central Asia summit<\/strong> in Washington chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cA new era\u201d in relations<\/h2>\n

Tokayev said the document \u201cwill open a new era,\u201d confirming \u201can unprecedented level of trust and a shared will\u201d for closer cooperation \u201cin all areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Kremlin confirmed that the two leaders will meet on Tuesday afternoon and hold joint government sessions<\/strong> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the president of Kazakhstan considers it necessary to inform our president about the content of the contacts that took place in Washington, of course, that will be extremely interesting for the Russian side,\u201d Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov<\/strong> said during his daily conference call.<\/p>\n

Strong economic partnership ties<\/h2>\n

Russia remains among Kazakhstan\u2019s top three trading partners<\/strong>, with bilateral trade totaling nearly $30 billion<\/strong>, according to official figures.<\/p>\n

It is also a major investor, with $4 billion<\/strong> in projects involving Russian firms such as Gazprom<\/strong> and Lukoil<\/strong>\u2014the latter currently under U.S. sanctions.<\/p>\n

Tokayev said talks will include the construction of Kazakhstan\u2019s first nuclear power plant<\/strong>, to be built by Russia\u2019s Rosatom<\/strong>, including technology transfer<\/strong> and specialist training<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ukraine war briefing and regional strategy<\/h2>\n

Putin will also brief Tokayev on the military campaign in Ukraine<\/strong>, where Russian forces have recently advanced.<\/p>\n

\u201cKazakhstan\u2014located between two major powers, China to the east and Russia to the north\u2014has pursued a multi-vector<\/strong> foreign policy since independence,\u201d Kazakh political analyst Eduard Poletayev<\/strong> told EFE.<\/p>\n

He said the policy has proven effective and positioned Kazakhstan as a reliable partner<\/strong> that maintains close relations with China, the United States and the European Union, which held a summit with Central Asian leaders in April in Samarkand.<\/p>\n

U.S. investment deals<\/h2>\n

During his U.S. visit, Tokayev agreed with Trump to establish a joint venture<\/strong> between Cove Capital (70%)<\/strong> and Tau-Ken Samruk (30%)<\/strong> to develop the world\u2019s largest untapped tungsten deposit<\/strong>, estimated at 410,000 tons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Tokayev has referred to rare earth metals<\/strong> as \u201cthe second oil.<\/strong>\u201d He noted Kazakhstan\u2019s significant reserves of rubidium, cesium, lithium and beryllium<\/strong>, as well as the world\u2019s largest tungsten<\/strong> and major uranium and chromium<\/strong> deposits.<\/p>\n

The United States and Kazakhstan also signed more than $17 billion<\/strong> in commercial agreements, including:<\/p>\n
