Madrid, Nov 21 (EFE).\u2014<\/strong> At a time when online consumption appears dominated by audiovisual content<\/strong>\u2014from TikTok and Instagram to YouTube and streaming platforms\u2014\u201cwriting is in fashion<\/strong>,\u201d says Alexandre Leforestier<\/strong>, CEO of Panodyssey<\/strong>, a French social network that promotes slow, multi-format content<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to EFE, Leforestier said that amid today\u2019s online video saturation, \u201cwriting is a new trend<\/strong>,\u201d likely, in his view, \u201cbecause we\u2019re tired of an extravagant algorithm pushing too much content<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blogging platforms gain new momentum<\/h2>\n

Writing and publishing online, he said, means interacting, collecting comments, likes or replies. A new wave of blogging platforms<\/strong>\u2014including Substack, Medium, Wattpad and Panodyssey<\/strong>\u2014has emerged in recent years after a period in which the blogosphere had fallen out of fashion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Leforestier described Panodyssey as a service designed to create \u201ca quiet web room<\/strong>\u201d for both fiction and nonfiction writing, for amateur and professional authors alike. Each user builds a personal space with a name and description and can publish in different formats, from short posts<\/strong> to longer journalistic pieces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Digital identity and protection for writers<\/h2>\n

The CEO noted that six years ago, Panodyssey became the first social network to issue free certificates tied to a real person<\/strong>, helping prevent fake profiles\u2014though \u201ca pseudonym can be used to protect one\u2019s identity if you are a journalist or whistleblower<\/strong>\u201d\u2014while also protecting writers\u2019 publication rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To prevent harassment or reputational attacks, the platform relies on moderation and monitoring tools<\/strong>.
>\u201cIf someone wants to destroy a person\u2019s reputation online, you must act immediately, without waiting 24 hours, to address the problem or the content in question,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Business models for online writing platforms<\/h2>\n

Leforestier, whose company collaborates with EFE on the distribution of this content, said new online writing platforms host two creator models<\/strong>: building a large audience and gaining subscribers, or monetizing content directly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou decide whether to publish your content for free or whether you want to get subscribers, and you set and decide the price of your subscription,\u201d he said, calling this \u201ca revolution<\/strong>\u201d for creative-writing enthusiasts and professionals.<\/p>\n
