The emergence and rapid rise of artificial intelligence<\/strong> in the digital environment has opened up a new scenario for European authors, marked by challenges such as transparency and copyright protection, a context in which specific tools are beginning to emerge to reinforce guarantees.<\/p>\n

This paradigm shift, with AI as the main driver of transformation, represents \u201ca great opportunity\u201d for authors \u201cas long as it respects them,\u201d Alexandre Leforestier<\/strong>, CEO of the digital reading and writing platform Panodyssey, told EFE.<\/p>\n

\u201cAI is transforming creativity, reading experiences, and the relationship between authors and audiences,\u201d and the sector must \u201cintelligently accept this reality,\u201d Leforestier said.<\/p>\n

Key legislative frameworks<\/h2>\n

At the community level, the European Union<\/strong> has put in place key legislative frameworks, such as the Digital Services Act (DSA), which regulates the activity of online platforms to strengthen the security and transparency of the digital environment, and the Artificial Intelligence Act, the first comprehensive framework aimed at ensuring that AI systems are safe, ethical, and reliable.<\/p>\n

In this context, Leforestier argues that Panodyssey is not limited to \u201cadapting to new regulations, but also actively helping to shape them.\u201d In response to these challenges, the platform proposes a Transparency Notice<\/strong>, developed within the framework of the European consortium CREA Trust AI, co-financed by the European Union.<\/p>\n

It is \u201ca unique technology tool that allows authors to clearly, publicly, and technically define the conditions under which their works can be used\u201d in terms of reading, indexing, use by AI,<\/strong> licensing, attribution, and remuneration, Leforestier said.<\/p>\n

An \u201coperational standard\u201d<\/h2>\n

\u201cWhile the AI Act establishes principles,\u201d Panodyssey offers an \u201coperational standard,\u201d the platform’s founder explained. He claimed that issues such as copyright protection<\/strong> and fair economic balance \u201care not slogans, but functional blocks natively integrated\u201d into its technology.<\/p>\n

The project plans to launch a new digital framework<\/strong> in January 2026 based on six key blocks\u2014transparency, rights, AI use, licensing, attribution, and traceability\u2014with the aim of \u201claying the foundations for a European standard\u201d for online reading and creation.<\/p>\n

For Leforestier, artificial intelligence is not a \u201cblack box,\u201d but a governed, explainable, and accountable tool. He emphasized that the platform, through the CREA Trust AI laboratory<\/strong>, Panodyssey, which has collaborated with EFE in the publication of this content, is already working with major global players in the AI sector, such as Google, OpenAI (ChatGPT), and Mistral, among others.<\/p>\n

“The era of the digital Wild West is back with a vengeance, and this plundering must end. We must negotiate licenses, represent the millions of authors who have been plundered, and do so with complete transparency.
