{"id":241538,"date":"2026-08-24T11:08:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T09:08:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/efecomunica.efe.com\/?p=241538"},"modified":"2026-08-24T12:14:56","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T10:14:56","slug":"ruling-adilet-party-wins-parliamentary-majority-in-kazakhstan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/efecomunica.efe.com\/en\/ruling-adilet-party-wins-parliamentary-majority-in-kazakhstan\/","title":{"rendered":"Ruling Adilet party wins parliamentary majority in Kazakhstan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kazakhstan\u2019s ruling Adilet (Justice) party<\/strong> has won a <strong>parliamentary majority<\/strong> with 71.17% of the vote in elections for the <strong>new unicameral parliament (Kurultai)<\/strong> of the largest Central Asian republic, according to official preliminary data.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, four other parties crossed the 5% electoral threshold: <strong>Auyl<\/strong>, with 6.26% of the vote; <strong>Respublica<\/strong>, with 5.56%; the <strong>Democratic Party of Kazakhstan &#8220;Ak Zhol&#8221;<\/strong> (5.21%); and the <strong>National Social Democratic Party<\/strong> (5.11%).<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>People&#8217;s Party of Kazakhstan<\/strong> (3.11%) and the <strong>Green Party<\/strong> (1.07%) did not receive the necessary support to enter the new parliament, which will be unicameral for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>According to electoral authorities, <strong>9,351,359 of the 12.6 million eligible Kazakh voters<\/strong> participated in the election, representing a turnout of <strong>74.08%<\/strong> of the voter rolls.<\/p>\n<p>Kazakhstan held on Sunday its first elections for the Kurultai, which replaces the former bicameral legislative body.<\/p>\n<p>The new legislature, which was created after a <a href=\"https:\/\/efecomunica.efe.com\/en\/tokayev-calls-for-massive-turnout-in-kazakhstans-constitutional-referendum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">constitutional referendum<\/a> in March, will have 145 deputies elected for a five-year term.
