Astana, Aug 28 (EFE).- Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev<\/strong> announced on Friday the dissolution<\/strong> of the Central Asian nation’s government<\/strong> during the opening of the first session of the Kurultai<\/strong>, Kazakhstan\u2019s new unicameral parliament.<\/p>\n

“In accordance with the Constitution, the government surrenders its powers to the newly elected Kurultai,” the leader said during his opening address to parliament.<\/p>\n

According to rules established by Kazakhstan’s new constitution, which entered into force on July 1, the government must be dissolved after the opening of parliament. The chamber will also elect a new cabinet of ministers<\/strong>, as part of a planned procedure.<\/p>\n

“In alignment with the new constitutional system, the Kurultai will participate in the appointment of a series of key state officials. In particular, the Kurultai will appoint judges of the Constitutional Court<\/strong>, members of the Central Election Commission<\/strong>, and the Court of Auditors<\/strong>,” he said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he nominated Aibek Dadebai<\/strong>, leader of the ruling Adilet (Justice) party, as chairman of the Kazakh parliament, a proposal supported by the legislature.<\/p>\n

Artificial intelligence and digital technologies<\/h3>\n

The Kazakh leader pointed out that the new parliament will be responsible for updating the nation’s laws to ensure alignment with the new constitution.<\/p>\n

He called on parliamentarians to ensure stability and the quality of the legislature’s work. In addition, he said that they should rely on tools such as artificial intelligence<\/strong> to enhance the quality of analytical work and reduce the risk of corruption during the preparatory process.<\/p>\n

However, he stated that digital technologies<\/strong> cannot replace the professional work of legal experts.<\/p>\n

Tokayev insisted on the need to pass laws linked to digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the development of digital assets. He also highlighted the need to attract foreign investment and specialists.<\/p>\n

“The implementation of ‘golden visas’<\/strong> is aimed at giving a powerful boost to this process,” the head of state said.<\/p>\n

Last Sunday, Kazakhstan elected its new unicameral parliament, comprising 145 deputies.<\/p>\n

Representatives from five parties were elected to the Kurultai<\/a>: the ruling Adilet<\/strong> (Justice) party secured the majority with 71.17% of the vote, followed by Auyl<\/strong> with 6.26%, Respublica<\/strong> with 5.56%, the Democratic Party of Kazakhstan “Ak Zhol”<\/strong> (5.21%), and the National Social Democratic Party<\/strong> (5.11%).
