Kazakh<\/strong> President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev<\/strong> on Friday called for an enhanced mediation role of Turkic<\/strong> states in conflicts, including those between Russia and Ukraine, and Israel and Hamas, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamist movement.<\/p>\n

“Increasing the role of mediation<\/strong> is an urgent<\/strong> task. A difficult situation is unfolding in our environment,” Kazakhstan\u2019s head of state said during the 10th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States<\/strong> (OTS), held in the Central Asian country’s capital, Astana.<\/p>\n

“The conflict<\/strong> between Russia and Ukraine persists, in the Middle East (the war) between Israel and Palestine. Instability<\/strong> continues in Afghanistan. The problem of illegal immigration<\/strong> is worsening in the West,” he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tokayev highlighted that civilians<\/strong> in the Gaza Strip, especially children<\/strong> and the elderly, are becoming casualties<\/strong> of the confrontation between Israel and Hamas.<\/p>\n

“The main task is to ensure their safety<\/strong>. In this regard, I have decided to provide humanitarian<\/strong> aid to the Palestinian people worth one million dollars,” he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Kazakh president stressed that “solving<\/strong> pressing problems that have not been resolved for decades through violence<\/strong> and terrorist acts is absolutely unacceptable<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

“Kazakhstan<\/strong> strongly condemns<\/strong> such methods. The exacerbation of the situation can have serious consequences<\/strong>. In this sense, we call for resolving any conflict exclusively through peaceful negotiations and diplomatic dialogue<\/strong>,” he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“For us, maintaining the territorial integrity<\/strong> of all states and non-interference in their internal affairs are key priorities<\/strong>. It is important to strictly implement the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council<\/strong> and comply with international law,” he added.<\/p>\n
