The ConX 2025 forum, organized by Travelgate at the Son Moix Stadium in Palma, brought together nearly 800 managers and professionals from the tourism sector on Wednesday to discuss emerging markets such as India and the immersion of non-specialized companies in the industry.
Travelgate founder and CEO Pedro Camara spoke about the international nature of the event with representatives from different countries and regions of the world, such as China, India, Japan, Africa, South America, North America, and Europe.
“This edition is the one that has had the best reception. We have almost 800 people here today, and we are very happy, it is a special edition,” said Camara in an interview with Agencia EFE.
Regarding tourism, the Travelgate CEO explained that despite the year starting “a little weak” due to a late Easter, figures have recovered in the second quarter.
“People continue to travel, and what we do notice is that trips are shorter, that is, average stays are down, and it is more expensive to travel nowadays, so people prefer to travel fewer days than to stop traveling,” he said.
The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has forecast that spending in the global tourism sector this year will reach more than 2.1 trillion euros, surpassing the previous high of 1.9 trillion in 2019. This signifies a record contribution of 10.3% of global GDP and 14 million additional jobs.
ConX 2025 discusses growth strategies in B2B travel
At the panel discussion following the opening, experts referred to “the new wave of growth strategies in B2B travel,” or how companies in the sector can strengthen synergies.
Mize co-founder Dor Krubiner, Traveloka Partners Network Vice President Tejveer Singh Bedi, Emerging Travel Group President and CEO Felix Shpilman, and iOl founder and CEO Faisal Memon agreed that the most difficult thing is to adapt to the rapid changes that occur in an industry that is so connected to technology.
In this sense, the strategies of B2B companies must implement a culture of digitization and big data. The debate participants say that with data analysis, they can precisely adjust to the needs demanded by the sector.
With the theme “Connected: Business, People, Ideas,” Travelgate also featured the vision of the future of professionals, such as HBX Group Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer Javier Cabrerizo and former EasyJet CEO Johan Lundgren. EFE
