Kairat fans crash site with 155,000 ticket requests for Real Madrid clash

Astana, Sep 23 (EFE) – More than 155,000 fans applied Tuesday for tickets to see Kazakh side Kairat face Real Madrid in their upcoming Champions League match, a surge of demand that briefly crashed the club’s website.

Within the first 90 minutes of sales, over 155,000 supporters attempted to secure seats for the Sept. 30 game in Almaty, far exceeding the 23,800 capacity of Kairat’s stadium.

Prices and demand

The cheapest ticket is priced at 30,000 tenge (about $55), while the most expensive goes for 250,000 tenge (around $450).

The match will be Kairat’s first-ever home fixture in the Champions League. The Kazakh champions debuted in the tournament last week with a 4–1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon.

Real Madrid effect

The extraordinary demand underscores both the global popularity of Real Madrid, record 14-time European champions, and the historic significance of Kairat’s participation in Europe’s elite competition. EFE
